Saturday 1/21/12.    Today is perfect for exploring so I took the dinghy for about a half hour joy ride.    Is it a bird…Is it a plane …its Superman!  No it’s not Superman…but it is the Direct TV Blimp!  This is the second day it has flown over the area.  It’s always just beyond camera range and the pix come out blurred.

After lunch we decided to go see what the state park is all about.  This will be my first return to Cayo Costa Island in over 45 years. The state has done a great job keeping it as pristine as I remembered.   The only big change is the small marina and welcome center but the island is as about as primitive as any on the Gulf Coast.

As we walked the beach Linda was hunting sea shells. This area of the Gulf Coast from Boca Grande south to Bonita Beach is a shell hunter’s paradise.Smack in the middle of this coastline is Sanibel Island where visitors from all over the world come to search for exotic shells.

We came upon a young lady who had just found a live Star Fish.  She was showing it to those of us walking the beach.

We caught the next to the last tram back to the welcome center and found the ferry boat from Bokeelia unloading campers.  Some had enough stuff packed to stay at least a week.  Once we got back to TwoGether Linda stirred up some lemonade and we sat and sipped on “the front porch” as she likes to call it.
