Monday 2/6/12.                     Hello from Key West.  We left the boat around 10:00a and started driving south.   The feminine voice on the GPS directed us to Interstate 75 toward Naples.  You have to pay attention to the GPS or sometimes it may take you a different way than you want to go.  Once we reached Naples I wanted to pick up US 41 and take the Tamiami Trail but she (the GPS) wanted to take I 75 across Alligator Alley to Miami then south to the Keys.  As I entered to off ramp the GPS kept telling me to turn left back toward I 75.  Linda said “Just ignore it…Like you do me sometimes”.  I think I was Zinged!!

Linda and I were camping in the Keys back in 1992.

I was told by a friend at work to make sure and stop at The Fish House Restaurant in Key Largo for the best seafood on the island.  He was right.  So we stopped in again 20 years later.  We even sat at the same table.  We both got the broiled scallops.  They were as tender and sweet as you could ever want and broiled to perfection.

When I mentioned to the waitress that we were here 20 years ago she thought I meant we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.   As we were getting ready to go the waitress and two waiters told us we couldn’t leave.  They presented us with a Yellow Tail Snapper with a candle in it and started singing “Happy Anniversary To You”.  We were certainly a bit confused.  The waitress said she thought it was our anniversary.  As it all got straightened out everybody had a big laugh, so we blew out the candle and made our wish.  Then they gave us a piece of Key Lime Pie to split.  Linda explained to them that this was really special because on our anniversary, two weeks ago, we were anchored out and it was the first time in 44 years we didn't go out for dinner.  This was like an anniversary dinner for us.   Before we left they presented us with this momento card.

We arrived at Westwinds Inn in Key West around 6:00P.

Then we went to the historic seaport district.  This is one of the many nightlife centers.  While it’s very touristy it retains the old town charm.
