Saturday 2/11/12. I guess the excitement of the last five days has caught up with us. It was close to 11:00P until we finally got out of bed. Most of the day was just hanging around the marina except for a walk to the post office.
Sunday 2/12/12. This morning Mother Nature reminded us not to get too used to the summer-like weather with lows in the 60°s and highs in the mid-70°s to 80°s. We had a temp this morning of 31° and wind chills in the low 20°s! Everybody outside looked like they were displaced Eskimos.
We settled on the settee and reviewed the videos of the last week and some of home. Then Linda went up to the salon, and looking towards Edwards Drive, saw balloons and what looked like a float. It was the Edison Festival of Light Junior Parade. The staging area was right in front of the Yacht Basin. We quickly put on sweat shirts and joined in the festivities.

The parade lasted about two hours. The kids were real troopers. The parade route must have been about twelve blocks long and they had to be cold with the temperature in the mid-60s with the wind blowing about 15 mph. There were marching band entries from most every public school in the county, plus many entries from the private, Christian and home-school associations and lots of Cub Scouts and Brownie Troops.

There were also the local entrants for the Miss Teen USA and other pageants. What a great surprise!
Linda got a special surprise…A little boy came over and gave her a live red rose.
When we got back to the boat it felt pretty good inside since the sun shining through the windows had the salon up to 88°! Linda opened the door to cool it down, which didn’t take very long..
